Samurai Pizza Cats Boxset 1 (3 DVD)

An action comedy of the Super Deformed variety (think big heads on little bodies), Samurai Pizza Cats is the story of a land that looks a lot like old time Japan (only with lots of mechanical contraptions and the like) peopled by humanoid animals (some of them are just plain strange). This already-strange land is protected by a band of samurai cats who operate under the guise of a pizza house (that happens to have a giant revolver on the roof). The Pizza Cats (Speedy, Polly & Guido) along with other helpful allies fight to thwart the nefarious plans of the Big Cheese. Set contains episodes 1-26.

Herbert Lom, Der Schatz im Silbersee

Herbert Lom, Der Schatz im Silbersee

In Schatz im Silbersee (1962, Harald Reinl) Herbert Lom (1917) plays the bad colonel Cornel, On the photo he has found the treasure of the film title. He and his four mates have found it in the cave of the Silver Lake and have overpowered the old and blind Indian guard. Herbert Lom has always been a reliable and eminently watchable actor, unfortunately not receiving the stardom he probably should have. He was born in Prague and he made his film debut in the Czech film Zena pod krizem (1937, Vladimir Slavinsky). He moved to Britain in 1939 and made many appearances in British films throughout the 1940’s, usually in villainous roles, although he later appeared in comedies as well. He played, Napoleon Bonaparte in The Young Mr. Pitt (1942, Carol Reed) and again in War and Peace (1956, King Vidor). In a rare starring role, Lom played twin trapeze artists in Dual Alibi (1946, Alfred Travers). He continued into the 1950’s with roles opposite Richard Widmark and Gene Tierney in Night and the City (1950, Jules Dassin), Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers in The Ladykillers (1955, Alexander Mackendrick), Robert Mitchum, Jack Lemmon and Rita Hayworth in Fire Down Below (1957, Robert Parrish) and Richard Todd in the thriller Intent to Kill (1958, Jack Cardiff).

Herbert Lom’s career really took off in the 1960’s. He got the title role in The Phantom of the Opera (1962, Terence Fisher). He also played Captain Nemo in Mysterious Island (1961, Cy Endfield) and landed supporting parts in El Cid (1961, Anthony Mann) and an especially showy role in Spartacus (1960, Stanley Kubrick) as a pirate chieftain contracted to transport Spartacus' army away from Italy. The 1960’s was also the decade in which Lom secured the role for which he will always be remembered: Peter Sellers' insane boss Commissioner Charles Dreyfus in the Pink Panther films. He played Prof. Abraham Van Helsing opposite Christopher Lee in Count Dracula/Nachts, wenn Dracula erwacht (1970, Jesus Franco) followed by many horror movies for Hammer Films in the 1970’s. A standout role was that of Christopher Walken's sympathetic doctor in The Dead Zone (1983, David Cronenberg) and he also played opposite Walter Matthau in Hopscotch (1980, Ronald Neame. Lom has been taking it easy since then, though he returned to his familiar role of Commissioner Charles Dreyfus in Son of the Pink Panther (1993, Blake Edwards).

HIGH HEELS IN HIGH PLACES Necklace by ECLETTICA view 04

HIGH HEELS IN HIGH PLACES Necklace by ECLETTICA view 04

There were peers and there were callgirls. Two West Indie petty crooks. A Secretary Of State For War. A Russian Naval Attache. A slum landlord. A mysterious Miss X. Douglas Fairbanks. Two-way mirrors. Among scandals of the 1960s, the Profumo Affair was grand opera.

Starring as leads in this "glittering society of peers, diplomats and ministers" meets "lurid subculture of showgirls, hoodlums and racketeers" extravaganza were successful osteopath to the rich Dr Stephen Ward, London showgirls Christine Keeler and Mandy Rice-Davies and, of course, the then Conservative Secretary Of State For War John Profumo.

Central to several hit songs and movies, the Profumo affair (which by today's standards wouldn't have made quite that big or extended a splash) escalated into a media circus, rocking British politics to its core.

I just love the imagery this entire fiasco conjures up in my mind's eye - the pert and perky (all puns intended) beautiful and vivacious Keeler and Rice-Davies heating up the (supposedly) staid sensibilities of London city of the time.

And although nothing has been proved, Rice-Davies is best known for coming up with the quip, ""Well, he would, wouldn't he?". This has become SO popular a phrase in Britain, more commonly known as "Well he would say that, wouldn't he?"

The chief players in my bejewelled drama are:-

>> GEM GRADE OPAL set with GENUINE DIAMOND in SOLID GOLD
>> RARE AAA 44CTW Bolivian Ametrine
>> GEM GRADE Polished Dark Pink Ruby
>> GEM GRADE Polished Orange Sapphire
>> Carved Citrine Nuggets
>> Yellow Sapphire
>> Pink Tourmaline
>> Madeira Citrine
>> Brazilian Amethyst
>> Rhodolite Garnet

Saucy, sexy and just that wee bit risque, HIGH HEELS IN HIGH PLACES grabs the spotlight and does ... not ... let ... go ... wanna be the centre of attention? Put this on.

This baby wraps sensuously around your neck from 17.5" to 21.25", courtesy of a nifty extender. That irrefutably flamboyant pendant portion drops a plush 5.25" and yet, HIGH HEELS IN HIGH PLACES retains an air of delicacy making it exceedingly lithe and wearable. Wire and chains are 14K Gold Filled.
